PLAGIARIZED WORK

HELEN KELLER
Hellen Keller was accused of plagiarizing a short story, "The Frost", that she wrote when she was 11. This story was published and quickly noticed to having a similarity to Margaret Canby's "The Frost Fairies". Keller said she had no recollection of this story but later it was revealed that she was read Canby's story at one time.
The Frost King V.S The Frost Fairies
  • Through the story. "The Frost King". Keller copied Canby's work exactly word without mentioning Canby's name.
-"...he puts the flower to sleep with one touch of his hand..." (Canbys & Keller par.1&3) was one of the many situations where Keller copied Canby's work for word but there were also many sentences that basically said at the same with different words.
  • There also times in which Keller said things that she wouldn't able to know.
-"he builds bridges over every stream as the transparent as glass.." (Keller Par.3)
Unfortunately, she was too young when she became blind to know that glass is transparent or to even to know what transparent is. This shows that she had ideas from another source in order to write this story.
